Kelso’s Choices is a conflict management program we use at Daulton. Last week in class guidance, we watched video scenarios of small problems. We talked about ways we could handle each problem by using Kelso’s Choice Wheel. We then brainstormed typical small problems.
The choices students learned are:
Go to another game
Talk it out
Share and take turns
Ignore it
Walk away
Tell them to stop
Apologize
Make a deal
Wait and cool off
We discussed how Kelso's Choices are a great way to solve small problems. If a student has a big problem, something scary or dangerous, he or she should always report it to an adult.
Each grade level applied their knowledge of Kelso's Choices by doing an activity in class.

Kelso's Choices is an excellent way for students to learn how to fix their small problems. If your student has a small problem at home, I encourage you to remind him or her of Kelso's Choices. The choices empower students and reduce the number of small problems adults are often solving.
